So when I play pantheon I usually stack BF swords upgrading them to a cleaver or bloodthirster late game and it works out pretty well. But I was wondering how other people build pantheon.

RE: Is there a better way to build?
I used to do that during his spear throwing days. I also used to go -
Youmuu's Ghostblade
Randuin's Omen
Banshee's Veil
Frozen Mallet
Atma's Impaler
Boots of Whatever

Ever since the Heart-Seeker Strike buff, however, I have been going -
Youmuu's Ghostblade
Infinity Edge
Frozen Mallet
Atma's Impaler
Defensive Item (Guardian Angel, Randuin's Omen, Banshee's Veil)
Boots of Whataver

All those builds should still work.

The reason why I build tanky is because you need to stand there to do your damage with HSS. Before, you could play like a caster with your Spear Shot.
Now, however, most of your damage comes off of your Heart Seeker Strike. I get Frozen Mallet so that during the 3 seconds in which spear shot is down, you can slow them. It also gives a hefty amount of HP. Infinity Edge helps your Certain Death, which is pretty powerful if I may say so myself. Ghostblade is core on any Pantheon to me. Last Whisper can also work. Atma's Impaler converts all your HP into damage.
Before, going tanky was so that I would not get ripped apart (if they were smart enough to focus me)

I will never build Warmog's Armor.

tbh with his recent raping, best way to build pantheon is to just pick someone else =/ like Nocturne or Jax.

I feel like when you build tanky you do no damage but I'll try the second build out sometime.

RE: Is there a better way to build?
As said before, with Pantheon's recent overkill nerfs, he is pretty bad now.
Before, during Pantheon's Spear Tossing days, I would have -
99.3 (Base Damage) + 50 (Youmuu's Ghostblade + Frozen Mallet damage) + 67.48 (from Atma's Impaler) + 28 (Elixir of Fortitude - I used these a lot before they were changed) + 8 (Atma's Impaler on the past Elixir of Fortitude) damage = 252.78 AD = 474.44800 damage on Spear Shot, which is a lot.
Of course, you have to account for Armor mitigation also. But if they are stacking armor, you switch your Ghostblade for Last Whisper, switching the 20 armor penetration for 40% armor penetration.
Instead of +50 AD from the Ghostblade/Frozen Mallet combo, you can get 60 from Last Whisper/Frozen Mallet, which totals a 262.78 AD with 490.44800 damage Spear Shots.
1999 (Base Health) + 300 (Randuin's Omen) + 375 (Banshee's Veil) + 700 (Frozen Mallet) + 400 (Past Elixir of Fortitude) = 3774 Health Points.
91.2 (Base Armor) + 80 (Randuin's Omen) + 45 (Atma's Impaler) = 216.2 Armor (68% damage reduction)
52.5 (Base Magic Resist) + 50 (Banshee's Veil) = 102.5 Magic Resistance (51% damage reduction)
You can actually get Atma's Impaler any time you want. I'd always rush Ghostblade (or at least The Brutalizer).

I usually go for sword of the occult, then cdr boots, then brutalizer then get 3 BF swords or possibly 2 bloodthirsters and an infinity edge. Banshees veil is pretty nice with his passive too if you think you need it.

RE: Is there a better way to build?
Pantheon will probably get some buffs soon™.
Right now I build him for physical burst caster (I don't think he can be built in any other way effectively).
First I grab a doran - damage, hp and minor lifesteal to stay on lane a bit longer.
Then boots, hp pots and brutalizer, in that priority. That gives some more dmg, nice cdr and some health to stay on that lane until 6~9 lvl.
At 6th I start to look for a chance to jump about every 15 secs, there are always some opportunities, you just have to watch for them!
Now that I have some gold from kills/assists, I build bloodthirster if I'm not focused, 2 bf swords if I need damage but sometimes I die, or hexdrinker + bf sword if mages are killing me.
After this I make some defence:
Banshee Veil for mages,
HoG/Randuin for physical dps.
If it is mixed, I grab chain vest along with negatron cloak and keep them without upgrading for some time, at lategame I upgrade them to these mentioned above.
At the end I sell Brutalizer for Last Whisper (much better lategame), and switch doran for IE (synergize with E passive, but not that great for the price) or for another Bloodthirster. Bloodthirsters are hard to stack but remember that Panth is awesome early game, and at lategame he sucks like no one (cept Urgot).
