General Build (Critiquing) Thread
EDIT: Posted in Strategy section by accident (-_-) Deleted and re-posted in Guide section.
So I figured, why not start a thread where people can post their builds for certain champions, and others can give constructive feedback to help improve them.
My Katarina Build:
Boots + 3 HP Potions
2 Amplifying Tomes
Turn 2 Amplifying Tomes into Hextech Revolver
Turn Hextech Revolver (+1 Amplifying Tome) into Will of the Ancients
Needlessly Large Rod + Blasting Wand
Turn Needlessly Large Rod and Blasting Wand into Rabadon's Deathcap
Lich Bane and eventually Zhonya's Hourglass
End Game Build:
1(2) Rabadon's Deathcap, Will of the Ancients, Lich Bane, Zhonya's Hourglass, Hextech Revolver(or Gunblade)
I always make sure to get a Deathcap at some point between 10-20 minutes to ensure early nuking and lane-intimidation. I start with the Hextech Revolver or Will of the Ancients EARLY, for the spell-vamp for higher lane-survivability. I take Lich Bane for its passive, because after I Shunpo, I usually land at least 1 Auto-Attack; this ensures maximum damage output. I get Zhonya's Hourglass if the opposing team is full of bruisers / combo-ers / or nukers; this usually gets them to unload all of their crap into me and while their skills are on cooldown, I'm chasing them down with Shunpo and BB.
To chase and get places quicker
To finish people off or add extra damage or prevent healing champs from regenerating health (Fiddlesticks, Swain, Janna, Soraka)
I ALWAYS max Shunpo first; whatever the situation. Her other skills are not as powerful / as handy. Bouncing Blade is nice for kiting (I start off with this for early harassing), and the bonuses from Killer Instincts are not that great. I leave BB and KI at 1 and start maxing Shunpo out ASAP. Next, I max BB and then KI. I only use KI for its BB passive, as it wipes out minion waves extremely well.
My LeBlanc build:
Meki Pendant + 2 HP Potions
Turn Mana Crystal and Meki Pendant into Tear of the Goddess
Turn Tear of the Goddess (+1 Blasting Wand) into Archangel's Staff
Needlessly Large Rod + Blasting Wand into Rabadon's Deathcap
Rod of Ages
5x Archangel's Staff, Rabadon's Deathcap
It's pretty simple. LeBlanc's mana-costs for skills is way too high early game, so I focus on increasing her mana-pool. I used to stack Rabadons, but now I find Archangel's to be more effective. She's purely a combo-nuke, so I have to focus on maximizing her damage output, and because with 5 Archangel's Staves, I'll be doing 15% of my maximum mana, which is usually around 3-4k. Shabam. 1 Rabadon for an AP boost + it's passive AP boost.
For chasing and getting to places quicker
For finishing people off
I always make sure I have all skills ready for combo-execution at level 6 (usually getting first blood). The combo is as follows: Distortion (to close distance) --> Aetherial Chains (to lock them in place) --> Sigil of Silence (Damage + Silence) --> Mimic (boom) + Ignite (to finish them off if they still have some HP left)
My Akali Build:
DISCLAIMER - many people have told me otherwise, but I LOVE Akali's AD builds, and her passive just BEGS for her to be hybrid; and so I always go hybrid with her.
Long Sword + 1 HP Potion
Boots of Mobility
Zeal + Sheen + Phage into Trinity Force
Endgame Build (varies):
Trinity Force, Guinsoo's Rageblade, Phantom Dancer, Lich Bane, Boots of Mobility, Infinity Edge
Though it looks like it's focused on attack damage and speed (which I admit, it is) I try to throw in some AP boosting items in there, such as Trinity Force, Guinsoo's Rageblade and Lich Bane. I always start with Long Sword to activate her Spell Vamp passive which increases my lane-survivability.
To get away from ganks (Twilight Shroud + Flash = Awesome) and to close distance with runners
To add extra damage, prevent healing and finish people off
I make sure to max Mark of the Assassin first as it's her main damage source. If an enemy is hit with an auto-attack while marked, bonus damage will be applied. This is GREAT for burst-kiting especially when done in your Twilight Shroud. I don't get Crescent Slash until later on because contrary to popular belief, you actually won't have enough energy for a second Mark of the Assasin attack if you use Crescent Slash as part of your damage-combo. Those few seconds you have to wait for energy to regenerate could cost you a kill. Nonetheless, it is great for wiping out minion waves. Her ultimate skill is amazing too, so don't forget to apply SP to it whenever possible (Levels 6, 11, 15). I use that to initiate my combo, which is as follows:
Twilight Shroud (placed in front of them to slow and increase my movement speed) --> Shadow Dance (to close distance and damage) --> Mark of the Assassin (damage) --> Auto-Attack (apply bonus damage from Mark of the Assassin) --> Crescent Slash (damage) --> Shadow Dance (damage while waiting for energy to regenerate) --> Mark of the Assassin --> REPEAT
This combo is beyond godly, continuous too (until you run out of Shadow Dance stacks), usually awarding you a kill or two instantly if you execute it correctly.
