Now, without further ado:
Round 4 poll, mates!
Okay, posting this here first, since I need some feedback before posting it... somewhere, in the official LoL forum.
Basically I had an idea. It would help me test my writing skills and would hopefully be fun to write.
The idea is this. I use a random picker to choose four champions out of a list of all current champs the Institute of War has. I would then run a poll, to see which of the two champs would be chosen for a confrontation. Dunno' how the winner would be chosen... more votes in the poll, or another random pick, whaddaya think?
I'd make it a sort of bi-weekly thing or something. Whaddaya think? Doomed for failure or am I onto something?
And, just because, here is a sample of my writing, so that you can judge:
Round 0 - Singed VS Nocturne
The Rift seemed quiet. Unnaturally so. Sure, the sounds of dying minions and clashing blades could be heard in the distance, along with the splashing water under his boots, but they seemed muffled, almost as if everything was a dream. But the running man knew it could not be so. He had ingested a potion specifically brewed to combat fatigue and its related problems. And the brew couldn’t have failed. He had made it himself.
Some would no longer call the champion a man. What was left of his body, bones and a bit of tissue, was covered by bandages, along with bits of armour here and there. A massive, crimson shield stood out on his form, along with a ridiculously large bottle, filled with the most diabolical chemicals Valoran had ever known. His scalp void of a single hair, some might have called him an undead. Two golden orbs looked in every possible direction, hoping to find any prowling danger.
Singed, the mad chemist, rushed to the top lane, where the enemy team was attacking with all their might, outnumbering his allies two to one. Without aid, they would lose the tower, at best. His summoner kept screaming at him to go faster and it was getting annoying, yet he sped up, nonetheless. There was no time to waste.
And then, something happened. A massive shadow crept over the land, yet the sky remained clear. The sun itself seemed to have been covered by an impenetrable darkness, the likes of which the chemist had never seen. Complete silence ruled. No fighting, no shouting summoner, nothing. He suddenly missed the annoyance.
A terrible wail filled his surroundings and without warning, a nightmarish creature sprung from the shadows, its form basically a cloud of all-consuming blackness, with massive, blood-soaked blades. A pair of azure fireballs stared at the chemist, sending a few chills down his spine. The monster rammed into him with astonishing strength, sending him flying for a few feet. It closed in a fraction of a second and tried to impale him on the ground, but he rolled to the side and swiftly got up. Master Warwick’s finest pupil would not be taken down that easily.
It charged again, relentless in its assault. Singed’s shield rose to meet the mighty weapons, his other hand already curling into a fist. A perfect block, followed by a retaliatory punch. While the thing’s form looked like smoke, it had some substance, and it growled in rage, before retreating. Their eyes locked and Nocturne, the eternal nightmare, spoke, directly with the chemist’s mind, in a whisper:
“I sense fear.”
He replied, with a hidden smirk:
“Must be your own.”
Despite his attitude, he knew it had the upper hand. Thankfully, he had already created cunning, diabolical, insane plan. All he needed to do was get back to his lane. Considering the creature’s speed, not an easy task. However, smart madmen always have a few aces up their sleeves. In this case, vials on their belt. He waited for the nightmare to assault again, before throwing one them right into its face. The vial shattered, covering the monster with a gooey, swiftly evaporating substance. Temporarily blinded, Nocturne roared, while the chemist began his retreat.
The chemicals vanished and the creature gave chase immediately. A blue, ethereal hand shot from its form, straight at the other champion. He felt its cold touch, as it passed through his organs, but continued. It gave chase at even greater speed, thanks to a foul trail, but was still not fast enough to get him before the lane.
It lost sight within the bushes, and burst right through, its target in sight, foolishly standing in the open. The arrogant fool would not live for much longer. During its final charge, the dark one noticed a few uncanny things. Veins of increased size, small spasms in random parts of his body. Yet it was too late to cancel the attack.
Singed screamed into the air and sidestepped. One of the blades managed to cut him around the waist, but his flesh healed at a remarkable rate. He struck back with incredible speed, catching the wraith off-guard. Shield bash, kick, bone-crushing punch, rinse and repeat. His mind was no longer one of a genius, rather, a sadistic psycho. At that moment, the mad one was unstoppable, just like Sion in his glory days. Nocturne, only barely dodging or blocking attacks, decided it was time for a tactical retreat. Yet as soon as it turned its back on the madman, it could feel his touch on its form.
Its form flew for a few seconds, before impacting a large, solid rock. Its memories searched for a rock on the middle lane, so that it could better pinpoint its own location. A blue light appeared above and the nightmare gazed upwards. It was no mere rock, rather, it was the lane’s first guard tower, which was ready to blast any foes. In this case, there was only one enemy to attack. Its magical fury rained upon the dark creature and its form was vaporised, with one final roar of defiance.
Almost immediately, the shadows faded and sunlight again bathed the area. The summoner’s voice returned:
“Great work! We even held the turret! Push, push!”
“As you say, heh,” he turned and wanted to escort a wave of minions. His plans were cut short by a massive, magical arrow, which suddenly appeared from the river-side bushes, “oh, you’ve gotta’ be...!!!”
He was frozen in place in less than a second, his mind left to contemplate his possible actions and enrage itself. Through the ice surrounding his form, he could make out the vague shape of a swordsman with... seven green eyes? Yes, it was him, complete with dark attire and ridiculously large sword. Did he think he could bring down the great Singed? Wrong!
Without warning, the ice burst and its inhabitant pounced onto the wuju bladesman, mercilessly beating him into submission moments later. He then proceeded to run back towards the top, where Ashe was probably headed. No one freezes the best chemist in all of Valoran, after all.
